Algimantas Leckas’ Grave – a Monumental Dialogue of Form and Granite amidst Nature

SKULPTORIUS

Dalia Ona Matulaitė

LOKACIJA

Vilniaus Antakalnio kapinės

The grave of architect Algimantas Leckas in Vilnius’ Antakalnis Cemetery stands out with its expressive, organic granite form created by sculptor Dalia Ona Matulaitė.

The sculpture uses a gently greenish hue of Olive Green granite, whose matte surface creates the impression of warm, natural stone. The black pedestal of the monument is made from Swedish Absolute Black granite, contrasting with the main mass of the sculpture. The pavement is laid with light, split Kuru Grey granite tiles. The inscriptions on the stone are sandblasted, complemented by natural field boulders in the burial site.
