LOKACIJA

Menininkų kalnelis, Antakalnio kapinės, Vilnius

In the Artists’ Hill at Antakalnis Cemetery in Vilnius rests the legendary Lithuanian musician, actor, and public figure Vytautas Kernagis. The monument commemorating him, created by sculptor Algirdas Kuzma, stands out with its subtle artistic solution—a thrush perched on the granite composition, symbolizing the maestro’s creative lightness, clarity, and continuity of life. Artists’ Hill—a place where prominent figures of Lithuanian culture rest—becomes even more meaningful, adorned by this minimalist yet profoundly significant monument.

An exceptional black Swedish granite was chosen for the monument, which, with its intense black hue and subtle surface texture, imparts an impression of solidity, eternity, and respectful solemnity. The black granite harmonizes perfectly with both the natural surroundings and other monuments on the hill, maintaining a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing overall appearance. The inscriptions were meticulously sandblasted and painted, ensuring good readability and longevity.

“Žybartuva” supplied and prepared the granite products. Technical project specifications:
