The grave of journalist, editor, and public figure Vytautas Sadauskas, located in Vilnius’ Antakalnis Cemetery, stands out with a monument created by sculptor Dalia Matulaitė – two vertically rising granite slabs with symbolic Baltic motifs.
The monument used light Swedish granite Bjärlöv Champagne, valued for its subtle fine-grained texture and warm color tone. The figures on the sculptural slabs are sandblasted, creating a contrast between the smooth surface and expressive symbols. The lower part of the monument is a combination of natural field boulders and Champagne granite pavers, with the pavement laid with the same granite – Champagne – pavers, maintaining a unified overall style.
“Žybartuva” supplied and prepared all granite products. Technical project specifications:
- The granite used – Bjärlöv Champagne (Sweden);
- Sculptural slabs – polished, figures sandblasted;
- Pavement surface – granite pavers from Bjärlöv Champagne granite.
