“(…) Beyond the clouds – leaning towers,
underground – burnt bridges,
Guardian Angel, let’s fly there,
where it is forbidden for us to be.”
J. Ivanauskaitė “To the Guardian Angel”
In the Artists’ Hill of Vilnius Antakalnis Cemetery lies the distinguished Lithuanian creator – writer, poet, artist, and traveler Jurga Ivanauskaitė. Her memory is immortalized by an exceptional Angel created by sculptor Stanislovas Kuzma, whose face bears a subtle resemblance to Jurga’s features. The monument exudes tranquility and meaningful symbolism – as if the writer herself sits under the nearby spruce, observing the world.
This sculptural monument is a sensitive work of art, blending personal history, literary spirit, and professional stone craftsmanship. Sculptor Stanislovas Kuzma was assisted by his son Algirdas Kuzma, and the architect was Marius Šaliamoras.
“Žybartuva” supplied and prepared the granite products. Technical project specifications:
- The black Swedish granite Absolute Black was used – a highly popular choice for exceptional monuments;
- Stone processing – polished, providing a rich and deeply reflective effect;
- Paving stones – crushed black granite, adapted for a natural expression of environmental harmony.
