In 2020, a monument to the partisan leader, General Adolfas Ramanauskas-Vanagas, was solemnly unveiled at Vilnius Antakalnis Cemetery. It is more than just a grave marker – it is a symbol of freedom and sacrifice for all Lithuanian fighters for independence. The monument was created by sculptor Algirdas Kuzma, whose artistic solution maintains a majestic calm and a strong, unbreakable spirit.
At the unveiling ceremony, Ramanauskas-Vanagas’s daughter, Diana, stated that this monument is not only her father’s grave but also a place of memory for the entire nation. Its concise yet profound symbolism is carved into the solid mass of granite – a monumental word to future generations about honor, responsibility, and sacrifice. The memorial blends into the space of the Artists’ Hill with its restrained form and strong emotional impact.
“Žybartuva” supplied and prepared all granite products. Technical project specifications:
- The Absolute Black Swedish granite used is of exceptional uniformity and rich black color;
- The base of the monument is split, with the sides hand-chiseled using a special technique;
- The inscriptions are engraved using sandblasting, ensuring subtle and long-lasting readability of the information.
